Pedro Martín is a former Hallmark artist and the author-illustrator of Mexikid: A Graphic Memoir, published by Dial Books (Penguin Random House). He is also the creator of the animated shorts “Asteroid Andy”.
Drawing on his Mexican American childhood, Martín began sharing short autobiographical comics online as “Mexikid Stories”, which developed into his debut long-form graphic memoir. Mexikid follows a family road trip to Mexico and blends humour with family history.
Mexikid was first published in 2023 and has been widely adopted by schools and libraries for readers in upper middle grade and young teen years.
In 2024, Mexikid was named a Newbery Honor Book and won both the Pura Belpré Author Award and the Pura Belpré Illustrator Award.
