Peadar O’Guilin is an Irish writer of young adult fantasy, horror and science fiction. Before his novel work, he wrote plays, published short stories and performed as a stand-up comedian. Language, landscape and the history of ancient Ireland are recurring themes in his writing.
His novel The Call was published by David Fickling Books in 2016. The book is aimed at readers aged 13+ and combines fantasy, horror, folklore, myths and legends, with Nessa as its main protagonist.
The Call became part of The Grey Land series. A later paperback edition of The Call was published by David Fickling Books on 1 June 2017, with ISBN 9781910200988 and 336 pages.
His books also include The Inferior, a science fiction and fantasy novel about Stopmouth, and The Deserter, a sequel in which Stopmouth travels from the Surface to the Roof. The Volunteer concludes the story that began with The Inferior and continued with The Deserter.
The Invasion followed The Call in The Grey Land series and features Nessa after the events of the earlier book. The Call was shortlisted for the YA Book Prize before The Invasion was published as its follow-up.
