Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Paula Bowles is a British children’s author and illustrator. She studied illustration at Falmouth College of Arts, and Simon & Schuster lists her as a 2005 graduate of Falmouth University. She is represented by Hannah Whitty at The Plum Agency.
Bloomsbury Children’s Books published Bowles’s picture book Little Lou and the Woolly Mammoth on 19 June 2014. Her picture book Tiny Crab is a Tidy Crab was published by Simon & Schuster Children’s UK on 7 July 2022. She has also worked with publishers including Nosy Crow, OUP and Bonnier.
In 2023, Bowles was named a winner of the Lancashire School Library Service Brilliant Book Award for Marv and the Mega Robot, written by Alex Falase-Koya. She won the Portsmouth Picture Book Award 2023 for Tiny Crab is a Tidy Crab.
