Patrick Sandford biography

Patrick Sandford is a British theatre director, playwright, and adaptor. He served as Artistic Director of the Redgrave Theatre, Farnham, from 1986 to 1988, programming repertory work and new productions during the venue’s later years.

Sandford’s stage adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein was first performed at the Nuffield Theatre, Southampton, in 2004 and is published in the NHB Modern Plays list by Nick Hern Books. The play text presents Shelley’s narrative for performance and is widely used by schools and theatre groups.

Earlier in his career, Sandford was recognised at the Theatrical Management Association (now UK Theatre) Awards: in 1991 he won for his productions of The Winter Wife and Much Ado About Nothing at the Nuffield Theatre, Southampton.
