Onyinye Iwu is a British-Nigerian author, illustrator, and educator. She is known for her work in children’s literature, particularly for her illustrations and stories that reflect African and multicultural experiences. Iwu has illustrated several books, including Too Small Tola and Too Small Tola and the Three Fine Girls, both written by Atinuke and published by Walker Books. Her illustrations are recognised for their vibrant style and ability to capture the everyday lives of children.
In addition to her work as an illustrator, Onyinye Iwu has written and illustrated her own books. She is the author and illustrator of Goodluck, Ebele!, published by Lantana Publishing in 2019. The book draws on Nigerian culture and traditions, introducing young readers to the concept of the Nigerian masquerade festival.
Iwu has a background in education and has worked as a teacher. She is committed to promoting diversity and representation in children’s books, aiming to provide stories and images that reflect a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Her work has been featured in various reading lists and recommended by organisations focused on inclusive literature.
