Ole Könnecke is a German author and illustrator known for his work in children’s literature. He was born in Göttingen, Germany, and later moved to Hamburg. Könnecke studied at the University of Hamburg and began his career as an illustrator, contributing to various publications before focusing on children’s books.
Könnecke has written and illustrated numerous picture books, many of which have been published in English translation. His works are characterised by their clear lines, gentle humour, and accessible storytelling. Among his notable titles is Anton Can Do Magic, which was originally published in German and later released in English by Gecko Press. The book features a young boy named Anton who attempts to perform magic tricks, capturing the imagination of young readers through simple text and expressive illustrations.
Another significant work by Könnecke is Sports Are Fantastic Fun!, published in English by Gecko Press in 2018. This book introduces children to a variety of sports, combining informative content with playful illustrations. Könnecke’s approach often blends educational themes with light-hearted narratives, making his books popular in educational settings.
In addition to his solo projects, Könnecke has collaborated with other authors, providing illustrations for their stories. His books have received recognition in Germany and internationally, and his illustrations have been exhibited in various venues.
In 2018, Ole Könnecke’s book Sports Are Fantastic Fun! was published in English by Gecko Press.
