Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Odiri Ighamre is a storyteller, educator and children’s author whose work has spanned schools, prisons, museums and community organisations in the UK and internationally. Her background in social pedagogy and youth development informs workshops and programmes that build young people’s confidence, voice and leadership.
Her children’s picture book Arcadia introduces environmental themes through a story set in an African village, inviting young readers to think about care for the natural world. The book was published by Arkbound and featured in UK children’s book round-ups for Autumn 2018.
Ighamre co-founded KORI Youth Charity and has led the organisation’s development as chief executive, supporting youth leadership in London and in parts of Africa. Arcadia was published by Arkbound in 2018.
