Nigel McCrery was an English screenwriter, producer and writer. Before attending Cambridge University, he was a police officer in the British Murder Squad and worked on several murder inquiries. He created the television crime dramas Silent Witness and New Tricks. He died on 6 February 2025.
His fiction includes the Dr. Samantha Ryan mysteries Silent Witness (1996), Silent Witness: Strange Screams of Death (1997) and The Spider’s Web (1998). He later wrote the DCI Mark Lapslie novels Still Waters (2007), Tooth and Claw (2009), Scream (2010), The Thirteenth Coffin (2015) and Flesh and Blood (2017). He also wrote the non-fiction book Silent Witnesses, published in 2013.
Silent Witnesses was published on 29 August 2013.
