Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Natelle Quek is a children’s book illustrator known for her vibrant and detailed artwork. Originally from Malaysia, she grew up in New Zealand before moving to the United Kingdom. Quek’s illustration work spans picture books, non-fiction, and educational titles, collaborating with a range of authors and publishers.
Her debut as a picture book illustrator was with Wild Wild Wood, written by Anna Kemp and published by Simon & Schuster Children’s Books in 2022. She has also illustrated The Baker by the Sea, written by Paula White and published by Templar Publishing, and Once Upon a Tune: Stories from the Orchestra by James Mayhew, published by Otter-Barry Books.
Quek’s illustrations are recognised for their expressive characters and rich, textured scenes. She has worked with publishers including Simon & Schuster, Templar Publishing, Otter-Barry Books, and Little Tiger Press. Her portfolio includes both fiction and non-fiction titles, and she has contributed to anthologies and educational resources.
In 2023, Natelle Quek illustrated If I Were the World, written by Mark Sperring and published by Bloomsbury Children’s Books.
