Nadiya Hussain is a British author known for her work in children’s literature as well as cookery writing. She first gained public attention as the winner of the sixth series of The Great British Bake Off in 2015. Following her success on the programme, Hussain has written a range of books for both adults and children.
Hussain’s debut children’s book, Nadiya’s Bake Me a Story, was published by Hodder Children’s Books in 2016. The book combines original stories with recipes, encouraging children and families to bake together. She has since written further titles in the series, including Bake Me a Festive Story and Bake Me a Celebration Story, both published by Hodder Children’s Books.
In addition to her baking-themed books, Hussain has written picture books such as My Monster and Me, published by Hodder Children’s Books in 2019. This book addresses themes of anxiety and resilience for young readers. Hussain’s children’s writing often draws on her experiences and aims to support children’s wellbeing and creativity.
Hussain’s work has been recognised with several awards. In 2020, My Monster and Me was longlisted for the UKLA Book Awards. She continues to write for children and families, with her books published by Hodder Children’s Books.
