Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Michelle Harrison is a British author known for her work in children’s and young adult fiction. She studied illustration at Staffordshire University before working in bookshops and as an assistant editor at a children’s book publisher. Harrison’s debut novel, The Thirteen Treasures, was published by Simon & Schuster in 2009. This book won the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in the same year. The novel is the first in a trilogy, followed by The Thirteen Curses and The Thirteen Secrets.
Harrison has also written stand-alone novels, including Unrest and One Wish. In 2019, she began the A Pinch of Magic series, published by Simon & Schuster. The series includes A Pinch of Magic, A Sprinkle of Sorcery, A Tangle of Spells, and A Storm of Sisters. Her books often feature elements of magic and folklore, appealing to readers interested in fantasy and adventure.
