Max Olesker is a writer, comedian and Contributing Editor at Esquire. He was once Britain’s youngest professional wrestler. He is one half of the comedy double-act Max & Ivan, which has created sitcoms for TV and radio. Their live shows have been performed at SXSW Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, as well as on tour in the UK.
Olesker’s first book is Making the Cut: An Unorthodox Love Story. It is a true account centred on his relationship with Eliana and his decision to undertake an Orthodox Jewish conversion. The book covers his time living with an Orthodox family for eight months, learning Jewish law and facing questioning by a high court of Rabbis. Making the Cut was published on 5 February 2026.
