Max Brallier biography

Max Brallier is an American children’s author and screenwriter. He is the author of The Last Kids on Earth, an illustrated middle-grade series created with illustrator Douglas Holgate.

The first The Last Kids on Earth book was published by Viking Books for Young Readers in 2015. The series follows Jack Sullivan and his friends after a monster apocalypse, combining prose, comic-style illustration and action-adventure storytelling.

Brallier also writes under the pen name Jack Chabert. Under that name, he created the Eerie Elementary series for Scholastic Branches and wrote Poptropica: Mystery of the Map.

His other children’s and middle-grade work includes Galactic Hot Dogs, published by Aladdin, and licensed books connected with Adventure Time, Regular Show, Steven Universe, Uncle Grandpa and LEGO Nexo Knights.

The Last Kids on Earth was adapted as an animated Netflix series. Brallier worked on the adaptation as a writer and producer, and the programme received the 2020 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program.

The Last Kids on Earth and the Destructor’s Lair, the tenth main book in the series, was published in the UK by Farshore on 6 November 2025.
