Matt Cherry is a children’s author-illustrator whose work blends fast-paced humour with cartoon artwork for middle-grade readers. He writes and illustrates for Firefly Press.
Cherry’s debut novel, The Monster Spotter’s Handbook, introduces Edwin Spook and a secret world of monsters in a heavily illustrated adventure for confident readers. It was published by Firefly Press on 24 June 2021.
As an illustrator, he collaborates with Robin Bennett on the non-fiction Stupendous Sports series for ages 7–12. Titles include Rampaging Rugby with a foreword by former All Black Conrad Smith, Fantastic Football and Cracking Cricket, each mixing jokes, facts and practical tips alongside Cherry’s cartoons.
