Marie Basting biography

Marie Basting is a British children’s author. Her debut novel, Princess BMX, was published by Chicken House in 2019. The book combines elements of adventure and humour, centring on a princess who discovers BMX biking. Princess BMX was selected for the 2020 Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge and was also featured in the BookTrust Great Books Guide. Basting has contributed to anthologies, including Wow! 366: A Leap Year of Stories, published by Scholastic in 2023. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and has appeared at literary festivals and school events across the UK. Basting holds an MA in Creative Writing from Manchester Metropolitan University. Her debut novel, Princess BMX, was longlisted for the 2020 Branford Boase Award.
