Maike Biederstädt is a German paper engineer and illustrator known for intricate pop-up books, greeting cards and paper artworks for clients including Prestel Publishing, MoMA and Dorling Kindersley.
Her book projects include Creatures of the Deep: The Pop-up Book – inspired by Ernst Haeckel’s natural history plates – the nature title What’s in the Egg?, and the large-format nonfiction title The Weather: Pop-up Book.
Alongside her author-illustrated books, Biederstädt has engineered multiple volumes in DK’s Pop-up Peekaboo series and created seasonal pop-up card designs for the Museum of Modern Art. Her MoMA “Shimmering Snowflake” card won a Louie Award in 2016.
The Weather: Pop-up Book was published in the UK on 7 September 2021.
