M.T. Khan is a speculative fiction writer from Pakistan whose work draws on myth, science and philosophy. She has studied Mechanical Engineering. Her debut middle-grade novel, Nura and the Immortal Palace, was published by Walker Books on 7 July 2022. The book follows a girl from the mica mines of Pakistan into the world of the jinn, and it won the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in 2023.
Khan’s next middle-grade novel, Amir and the Jinn Princess, was published by Walker Books on 4 July 2024. The story returns to the realm of the jinn and centres on Amir, a boy searching for his missing mother. Walker Books describes the novel as a standalone story set in the same world as Nura and the Immortal Palace. A two-book deal for Nura and the Immortal Palace and a second middle-grade title was announced in November 2021.
