Lucy Tandon Copp biography

Lucy Tandon Copp is a children’s picture-book author and an award-winning journalist of Malaysian Chinese and British heritage. She joined the WriteNow children’s editorial programme in 2021, where she worked with editor Annie Gnoan. Her writing interests include East and South-East Asian representation in children’s books.

Her debut picture book, A Love as Full as the Moon, was illustrated by Sienna Youngsun Kim and published by Puffin on 7 August 2025. The 32-page book follows Luna, a child in a mixed-heritage family, as she starts school, prepares for the Moon Festival, and learns about belonging.

In April 2025, Puffin acquired two picture books by Lucy Tandon Copp in a two-book deal. A Love as Full as the Moon was the first title in the deal and focuses on self-acceptance, culture, identity and mixed White and East and South East Asian heritage.

Her picture book Logan’s Lantern was illustrated by Ya-Ling Huang and published by Bloomsbury Children’s Books in 2026. It is a Lunar New Year story for children aged 3 to 7 about Logan, a dragon lantern, and taking brave steps into the dark to reach the festivities.
