Louis Ghibault biography

Louis Ghibault is a Belgian illustrator and animator who trained in animated cinema. His work includes children’s novels and picture books published in the UK and France, with publishers including Puffin, Farshore, Sarbacane and Scallywag Press.

Ghibault illustrated John Robertson’s The Little Town of Marrowville, published by Puffin in 2019. He also illustrated Ian Mark’s Monster Hunting series for Farshore, beginning with Monster Hunting for Beginners in 2021 and followed by Monsters Bite Back and Just Add Dragons. The series combines comic fantasy adventures with Ghibault’s black-and-white illustrations of monsters and other characters.

His French publishing credits include several books for Sarbacane. These include Kamel Benaouda’s Stella et le Musée des ratés, published in 2025, and Anne Schmauch’s Comment le monde est parti en saucisse, published in 2026.

Ghibault is also the illustrator of Derek Keilty’s Olivia Shivers: Spooky Special Agent, the first book in a new illustrated chapter-book series from Scallywag Press. Olivia discovers that she can detect ghosts and becomes involved with SCARE, the secret organisation for which her grandfather works, after he is kidnapped. Olivia Shivers: Spooky Special Agent is scheduled for publication on 3 September 2026.
