Lottie Saahko is a Finnish author, speaker, television presenter and content creator. Raised in several countries, she has published books in Finnish under the name Lotta-Sofia Saahko. Her first non-fiction book was published in Finland in 2020, and her subsequent work has included books for adults and children.
An early draft of her middle-grade manuscript Children of the Chimneytops was longlisted for the Bath Children’s Novel Award in 2024. She is represented by Gill McLay of the Bath Literary Agency.
Lumi and the Wolf is Saahko’s first novel published in English. The middle-grade adventure follows Lumi, an autistic girl who encounters a lone white wolf while staying with relatives in Lapland and sets out to lead him to the safety of a national park when she discovers that he is being hunted. The story draws on the landscapes and wildlife of Finnish Lapland and includes themes of neurodivergence, belonging and nature conservation.
Lumi and the Wolf is published by Starboard, part of Hachette Children’s Group. The book features cover artwork by award-winning author and illustrator Jason Cockcroft, while Saahko created the forest diary illustrations that appear within the story. The UK hardback was published on 24 September 2026.
