Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Lisa Moss is a British children’s author and co-creator of the Maddie and Greg science adventure series. She collaborates with Dr. Thomas Bernard on these books, which aim to introduce scientific concepts to young readers through engaging stories and activities. The series includes titles such as Maddie and Greg and the Super Solar Powered Car and Maddie and Greg and the Science of Sleep, published by Oxford University Press.
Moss has a background in science communication and has worked to make science accessible to children through literature. Her books often feature interactive elements, including experiments and puzzles, designed to encourage hands-on learning. The Maddie and Greg series has been recognised for its educational value and is used in schools to support science teaching.
In 2022, Maddie and Greg and the Super Solar Powered Car was shortlisted for the Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize, an award recognising outstanding science books for young readers. Moss continues to contribute to children’s science literature through her published works with Oxford University Press.
