Kristjana S Williams is an Icelandic artist and illustrator whose practice spans collage, illustration, animation and digital design. Her work draws on Victorian engravings and the natural world, layering flora and fauna into intricate, fantastical compositions suited to large-scale prints and book illustration.
Williams studied graphic design and illustration at Central Saint Martins and went on to work as a creative director before establishing her own studio. Her clients and commissions span cultural institutions and heritage brands, and her artwork has received industry recognition including D&AD and Clio awards.
For young readers she is best known for illustrating The Wonder Garden: Wander through 5 habitats to discover 80 amazing animals, written by Jenny Broom for Wide Eyed Editions. The book explores the Amazon Rainforest, the Chihuahuan Desert, the Great Barrier Reef, the Black Forest and the Himalayas through detailed, engraved-style spreads designed for browsing and discussion.
The Wonder Garden was published by Wide Eyed Editions on 1 September 2015.
