Korky Paul biography

Korky Paul is an illustrator known for his work in children’s literature. Born in Zimbabwe, he studied Fine Arts at Durban Art School in South Africa. After working in advertising, he moved to Europe and began illustrating books for children.

Paul is particularly recognised for illustrating the Winnie and Wilbur series, written by Valerie Thomas and published by Oxford University Press. The first book in the series, Winnie the Witch, was published in 1987. His distinctive, detailed illustrations have become closely associated with the series, which features the adventures of a witch named Winnie and her cat, Wilbur.

In addition to the Winnie and Wilbur books, Korky Paul has illustrated a range of other titles, including poetry collections and picture books. He has collaborated with various authors and his work has been published by several major publishers.

Paul’s illustrations for Winnie the Witch received the Children’s Book Award in 1987.
