Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Katy Wiedemann is an illustrator and tattoo artist whose work focuses on scientific illustration – particularly human and animal anatomy. She works in ink and watercolour and has a BFA in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design and an MA in Illustration from Edinburgh College of Art.
Wiedemann is the illustrator of the large-format children’s non-fiction title Anatomicum in the Welcome to the Museum series, with text by Dr Jennifer Z. Paxton. The book presents curated galleries of the human body for middle-grade readers, combining detailed plates with expert commentary.
Companion publications to Anatomicum include the puzzle- and activity-led Anatomicum Activity Book and the accessible overview Anatomicum Junior, which adapts the subject for younger readers.
Anatomicum was published by Candlewick on 10 September 2020.
