Katja Kaine is a young adult fantasy author. Her debut novel is Blood of Gods and Girls, a fantasy romance about Nisha, a girl chosen as the Mortal Goddess who escapes sacrifice and later tries to protect Ratna while learning to use her power. Penguin Random House Children acquired the book as part of its young adult publishing programme announced before the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in April 2024.
Blood of Gods and Girls is described for readers aged 12+ and was presented as a 400-page novel of about 98,000 words. The story is set in a Singapore-inspired world, and Kaine is identified as half Singaporean and half German. She is also the creator of Novel Factory software for writers.

Katja Kaine received a Northern Writers’ Award in 2023, at a ceremony held at Northumbria University, Newcastle, on 20 June 2023. Blood of Gods and Girls is scheduled for publication on 2 July 2026.
