Katie Brosnan biography

Katie Brosnan is a British author and illustrator known for her work in children’s non-fiction. She studied illustration at the Cambridge School of Art, where she completed the MA in Children’s Book Illustration. Brosnan’s work often explores science and nature topics, combining detailed illustration with accessible text for young readers.

Her debut picture book, Keith Among the Pigeons, was published by Child’s Play in 2019. The book tells the story of a cat who wishes to be a pigeon, using humour and empathy to explore themes of identity and acceptance. Brosnan has also written and illustrated Gut Garden: A Journey into the Wonderful World of Your Microbiome, published by Cicada Books in 2019. This non-fiction title introduces children to the concept of the human microbiome, using engaging illustrations to explain complex biological processes.

Brosnan’s work has been recognised by several awards. Gut Garden was shortlisted for the Royal Society Young People’s Book Prize in 2020. She has also contributed to anthologies and collaborated with other authors and illustrators on educational projects.

In 2022, Brosnan’s book Jungle: A Photicular Book was published by Workman Publishing, further expanding her portfolio of illustrated non-fiction for children.
