Kathryn Lasky is an American author known for her extensive work in children’s and young adult literature. She has written both fiction and non-fiction, with her books often exploring themes of history, animals, and adventure. Lasky is the creator of the Guardians of Ga’Hoole series, which follows the adventures of a group of owls and has been published by Scholastic. The series began with The Capture in 2003 and has grown to include multiple sequels and companion books.

In addition to her animal fantasy series, Lasky has written historical fiction such as the Royal Diaries and Dear America books, which present historical events through the eyes of young protagonists. Her non-fiction works include biographies and books on natural history, often aimed at younger readers.
