Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Kate Scott is a children’s author whose work includes series fiction and standalone novels for primary readers. Publisher biographies note that she also writes children’s television programmes, radio plays and poetry.
Her early series Spies in Disguise follows Joe as he discovers his parents are spies and must go undercover – titles include Boy in Tights, Boy in a Tutu and Boy in Heels. The books were published in the UK by Piccadilly Press, with US editions appearing from Sky Pony Press.
Scott’s standalone novel Just Jack, illustrated by Alex Gunn, explores friendship, fitting in and being yourself for readers in KS2. It was published by Piccadilly Press.
Spies in Disguise: Boy in a Tutu was released in the US by Sky Pony Press on 22 November 2016, and Just Jack was published by Piccadilly Press in 2018.
