Here’s our selection of top new titles coming out in summer 2019. These reading recommendations include picture books, early and middle-grade fiction; young adult novels and non-fiction.
Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Kate Leake is a children’s illustrator and author. She studied Children’s Illustration at the North Wales School of Art and Design and was runner-up in the 2004 Macmillan Prize for Illustration.
Her picture-book work includes Football Fever, written by Alan Durant and illustrated by Kate Leake. She also illustrated children’s books including Look Inside Your Body, written by Louie Stowell, Lift-the-Flap Atlas, written by Alex Frith, The Very Messy Mermaid, written by Tracey Corderoy, and Never Say No to a Princess!, written by Tracey Corderoy.
Kate Leake wrote and illustrated Who Ate the Cake?, a 32-page picture book for ages 2 to 6 published by Alison Green Books on 5 January 2017. The story is about Bob the dog, who is blamed when things go missing, and a pelican hiding objects in its beak.
