Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Kate Leake is a British illustrator and author known for her work in children’s books. She studied Illustration at the University of Lincoln, graduating in 2004. Leake has illustrated a range of picture books and children’s titles, collaborating with various authors and publishers.
Her illustration work includes books such as Never Say No to a Princess! written by Tracey Corderoy and published by Alison Green Books, an imprint of Scholastic. She has also illustrated You Can’t Eat a Princess! and You Can’t Scare a Princess!, both written by Gillian Rogerson and published by Scholastic. In addition to her collaborations, Leake has written and illustrated her own picture book, Don’t Chew the Royal Shoe!, published by Scholastic in 2012.
Leake’s illustrations are characterised by their lively and humorous style, appealing to young readers and families. She has worked with several UK publishers, including Scholastic and Macmillan Children’s Books. Her portfolio covers a variety of themes, from fairy tales to humorous adventures.
In 2012, Kate Leake’s book Don’t Chew the Royal Shoe! was published by Scholastic.
