Kate Davies is an English novelist, screenwriter and children’s author. After studying English at the University of Oxford she worked for twelve years as a children’s book editor across fiction, non-fiction and picture books, before becoming a full-time writer.
Her middle-grade trilogy The Crims (2017), Down with the Crims (2018) and The Crims at Sea (2019) introduced young readers to a comic crime family. She has also written picture books, including The Incredible Hotel (2020) and its sequel A Mystery at the Incredible Hotel (2023), illustrated by Isabelle Follath, and has contributed to children’s non-fiction lists for publishers such as Usborne.
Alongside her work for children, Davies writes for adults. Her debut novel In at the Deep End (2019) was followed by Nuclear Family (2024).
In at the Deep End won the Polari Prize in 2020.
