Karmelo C. Iribarren is a Spanish poet known for his accessible and direct style. Born in San Sebastián, Spain, Iribarren began writing poetry in the 1980s. He is associated with the so-called “poesía de la experiencia” movement, which focuses on everyday life and personal experience. Iribarren’s work often explores themes of urban existence, solitude, and the passage of time.
He has published numerous poetry collections, including Bares y noches (1993), La condición urbana (1995), Desde el fondo de la barra (1997), and La ciudad (1998). His poetry is characterised by its clarity, brevity, and focus on ordinary moments. Iribarren’s writing has appeared in various anthologies and literary magazines in Spain.
In addition to his poetry for adults, Iribarren has written for younger readers. His children’s poetry collection Versos que el viento arrastra was published by Nórdica Libros in 2016. This book introduces young readers to his distinctive poetic voice and has been used in educational settings.
