Kamilah Cole biography

Kamilah Cole is an author of young adult fantasy and adult fantasy. She worked for four years as a writer and entertainment editor at Bustle, and her nonfiction has appeared in Marie Claire and Seventeen. She graduated from New York University.

Her debut novel, So Let Them Burn, was published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers on 16 January 2024. The book is Jamaican-inspired young adult fantasy and follows Faron Vincent, a gods-blessed heroine who must choose between saving her sister and protecting her homeland. It is part of The Divine Traitors series.

This Ends in Embers, the sequel to So Let Them Burn, was published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers on 4 February 2025. The novel continues The Divine Traitors story through sisters Faron and Elara as they fight on opposite sides of a war, and it is described as the conclusion to the duology.

An Arcane Inheritance is Cole’s adult debut and is described as a dark academia fantasy with horror, thriller and romance elements. Poisoned Pen Press published An Arcane Inheritance on 30 December 2025.

Cole has been nominated for a Lodestar Award and a Lambda Award. Her forthcoming young adult fantasy Wicked Endeavors is scheduled for publication by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers on 11 August 2026.
