June Crebbin writes for children across picture books, poetry and fiction. Her work for early readers includes Hal the Highwayman, The Dragon Test and Hal the Pirate, three Walker Starters titles of 48 pages each. Hal the Highwayman and The Dragon Test were published on 3 February 2003, and Hal the Pirate was published on 2 August 2004.
Her picture books include Fly by Night, Into the Castle and Cows in the Kitchen. Fly by Night is a 32-page picture book about a baby owl called Blink waiting until night for his first flight, and it was published on 3 May 1993. Into the Castle follows five friends on a journey to a castle to find out whether a monster lives there, and it was published on 1 January 1996. Cows in the Kitchen uses a nursery-song structure modelled on Skip to My Lou, with farm animals taking over Tom Farmer’s house, and it was published on 1 January 1998.
June Crebbin edited The Puffin Book of Fantastic First Poems, a poetry collection for children aged 3 to 6 that brings together work by more than 60 poets. The collection is organised into seven sections covering animals, playtime, families, mealtimes, outings, bedtime and nonsense, and it was published on 7 October 1999.
Her fiction for developing readers includes The King’s Shopping, a 64-page Walker Stories book based around the nursery rhyme Sing a Song of Sixpence; it was published on 1 August 2005. Her Merryfield Hall Riding School book Jumping Beany is an 80-page story about Amber, Pony Day and her favourite pony Beany, and it was published on 5 February 2007.
