Julia Woolf is a British author and illustrator known for her work in children’s literature. She studied at the Cambridge School of Art, where she completed an MA in Children’s Book Illustration. Before focusing on children’s books, Woolf worked in animation for over twenty years, including a period at DreamWorks in the United States.
Woolf has both written and illustrated several picture books. Her debut as both author and illustrator was with Giraffe on a Bicycle, published by Macmillan Children’s Books in 2016. She has also illustrated books for other authors, such as Duckling’s Cake by Francesca Simon. Woolf’s work is characterised by expressive characters and a gentle sense of humour, appealing to young readers and families.
In addition to her picture books, Woolf has contributed illustrations to educational and early reader titles. Her book Lydia: The Wild Girl of Pride & Prejudice, written by Natasha Farrant and illustrated by Woolf, was published by Chicken House in 2023.
