Jo Schofield biography

Jo Schofield is a British children’s author and photographer who co-writes practical outdoor activity books with Fiona Danks. Their titles encourage exploration of nature, creative play and environmental awareness.

Schofield and Danks have produced a long-running series with Frances Lincoln Children’s Books, including Go Wild!, Make It Wild!, Run Wild!, and Wild Things: Over 100 Magical Outdoor Adventures. Their work combines text and photography to guide families and schools in hands-on activities such as building dens, crafting with natural materials and engaging with wildlife.

Other collaborative titles include Nature’s Playground (2007), Outdoor Wonderland (2012) and The Stick Book (2012), which has become a staple in many school and library collections. Subsequent books include The Wild Weather Book (2013), The Beach Book (2015) and The Lost Book of Adventure (2019), the latter credited to an unknown adventurer and edited by Danks and Schofield.

Their publications are widely used by teachers, parents and forest school leaders, with rights sold internationally in multiple languages. Schofield provides the photography that illustrates their practical guides.
