Jill Jennings (also credited as J. A. Jennings) is a children’s author based in North Yorkshire. She was born in Ireland and spent her childhood in County Wicklow, later growing up on Ireland’s west coast.
Her first novel, Pyjama Jones, was published by Natterjack Books in 2007. That adventure story follows a boy named Toby Jones who discovers a secret underground city inhabited by ancient Egyptians.
Jennings’s second book is Boffin Brainchild, which appeared in 2013 and features a free-thinking robot programmed to learn like a child.
The author’s creative process for Pyjama Jones included writing the story in cliff-hanger episodes and reviewing each chapter with her family.
Thomas Jennings is credited as illustrator on both her books. In promotional material, she states that robotics talk heard on the radio inspired Boffin Brainchild.
