Jess McGeachin biography

Jess McGeachin is an Australian author and illustrator of children’s books. He is known for both writing and illustrating picture books, as well as illustrating works by other authors. McGeachin’s debut picture book, Fly, was published by Penguin Random House Australia in 2019. Fly was shortlisted for the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Book of the Year: Early Childhood in 2020.

His subsequent works include Colouroos (2020), which explores Australian animals and their habitats, and The Lost Library (2021), which he both wrote and illustrated. McGeachin has also illustrated books such as Frankie and the Fossil by Jess McGeachin (2021) and Kind by Jess McGeachin (2022).

McGeachin’s books have been published by Penguin Random House Australia and have received recognition in children’s literature circles. Fly was also longlisted for the 2020 Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIA) for Small Publishers’ Children’s Book of the Year.

In addition to his work as an author and illustrator, McGeachin has a background in graphic design and has worked in museum exhibition design. His book Colouroos was selected as a Notable Book by the CBCA in 2021.

Jess McGeachin’s Fly was shortlisted for the CBCA Book of the Year: Early Childhood in 2020.
