Jen Williams biography

Jen Williams writes fantasy novels, horror-tinged crime thrillers and young adult fiction. Her debut novel, The Copper Promise, began the Copper Cat trilogy in 2014. She followed it with the Winnowing Flame trilogy: The Ninth Rain in 2017, The Bitter Twins in 2018 and The Poison Song in 2019.

She was nominated for Best Newcomer in the British Fantasy Awards. The Ninth Rain and The Bitter Twins won the British Fantasy Award for Best Fantasy Novel, and Talonsister won the same award in 2024. Williams moved into crime fiction with Dog Rose Dirt in 2021 and Games for Dead Girls in 2023. Her first novel for YA readers, The Sleepless, was published on 22 May 2025, and its sequel, The Dreamless, is due on 29 September 2026.
