James Bishop is a UK children’s author best known for the comic, high-energy Iguana Boy series, illustrated by Rikin Parekh and published by Hachette Children’s Group. The books follow Dylan, a boy whose disappointing superpower—talking to iguanas—lands him in increasingly chaotic superhero adventures for confident readers in KS2.
The series launched with Iguana Boy Saves the World with a Triple Cheese Pizza, and continued with Iguana Boy vs. The 30 Second Thief and Iguana Boy and the Golden Toothbrush. Bishop’s stand-alone humour adventure The Worst Day Ever! features aliens, intergalactic chaos and brisk, dialogue-driven chapters aimed at independent readers.
Before publication, Bishop was runner-up in ITV’s Lorraine “Top Tales” writing competition (2016), a break that helped bring Iguana Boy to publishers’ attention. Alongside writing, he delivers lively school events and workshops built around character creation, plotting and the comedy beats of action scenes.
Bishop’s books are listed by major retailers, libraries and educational suppliers, and appear on publisher and agency catalogues with standard bibliographic data for schools. His work is positioned for readers who enjoy fast pacing, visual humour and accessible, serial storytelling.
Iguana Boy Saves the World with a Triple Cheese Pizza was first published in 2018.
