Jakob Wegelius biography

Jakob Wegelius is a Swedish author and illustrator known for his work in children’s literature. He studied at Konstfack, the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. Wegelius writes and illustrates his own books, often combining detailed illustrations with narrative storytelling.

His notable works include The Legend of Sally Jones and The Murderer’s Ape. The Legend of Sally Jones was originally published in Swedish as Legenden om Sally Jones and has received recognition for its illustrations and storytelling. The Murderer’s Ape was first published in Sweden in 2014 and later translated into English. The book follows the adventures of Sally Jones, a gorilla, and is both written and illustrated by Wegelius.

Jakob Wegelius has received several awards for his work. The Murderer’s Ape won the August Prize for Best Swedish Children’s Book in 2014. His books are published in the UK by Pushkin Children’s Books.
