Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Jack Thorne is a British playwright and screenwriter. He studied at Pembroke College, Cambridge.
In theatre, Thorne co-wrote Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (original story by J. K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Thorne). The play premiered in 2016 and won the Olivier Award for Best New Play in 2017.
For television, Thorne has writing credits that include This Is England ’86, This Is England ’88 and This Is England ’90 (with Shane Meadows), The Fades, National Treasure, Kiri, The Virtues (with Shane Meadows), and the BBC and HBO adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials.
For film, Thorne wrote the screenplay for Wonder (2017) and adapted Nancy Springer’s Enola Holmes for the 2020 film, also writing its 2022 sequel.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child won the 2018 Tony Award for Best Play.
