Ian Edginton is a British comic book writer known for his work across a range of science fiction, fantasy, and horror titles. He has written extensively for both UK and US publishers, including 2000 AD, DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and Dark Horse Comics. Edginton is recognised for his collaborations with artists such as D’Israeli (Matt Brooker), Steve Yeowell, and Simon Davis.
Edginton’s early work includes contributions to the UK anthology 2000 AD, where he has written series such as The Red Seas, Leviathan, and Stickleback. He has also worked on Judge Dredd stories and the long-running series Scarlet Traces, which explores the aftermath of H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds. Scarlet Traces was first published by Dark Horse Comics in 2002, with subsequent series appearing in 2006 and later in 2000 AD.
In addition to his original works, Edginton has adapted classic literature into graphic novel form. Notable adaptations include The Picture of Dorian Gray and A Christmas Carol for SelfMadeHero, as well as The Hound of the Baskervilles and The Sign of Four for the same publisher. He has also written for licensed properties, including Aliens and Predator comics for Dark Horse Comics, and Doctor Who stories for IDW Publishing.
Edginton’s work has been recognised within the comics industry. Scarlet Traces: The Great Game was nominated for the 2007 Eagle Award for Favourite Colour Comicbook – British.
