Hannah Tunnicliffe is a New Zealand-born author known for her contemporary fiction novels. She has lived in various countries, including Canada, Australia, and Macau, and her international experiences often influence her writing. Tunnicliffe holds a degree in social sciences and has worked in human resources before becoming a full-time writer.
Her debut novel, The Colour of Tea, was published in 2012 by Allen & Unwin. The story is set in Macau and follows a woman who opens a café, exploring themes of food, friendship, and personal transformation. The novel has been published in several countries and received positive attention for its evocative setting and character-driven narrative.
Tunnicliffe’s second novel, Season of Salt and Honey, was released in 2015. This book centres on a young woman dealing with grief and self-discovery in a remote forest setting, weaving in elements of Italian culture and cuisine. Her third novel, A French Wedding, was published in 2017 and is set in Brittany, France, focusing on a group of friends reuniting for a celebration that brings old tensions and secrets to the surface.
In addition to her novels, Tunnicliffe has contributed to various anthologies and online publications. Her writing often explores themes of identity, belonging, and the significance of food in human relationships.
Hannah Tunnicliffe’s most recent novel, Seven Rules for Breaking Hearts, was published by HarperCollins in 2023.
