Hannah Kaner biography

Hannah Kaner writes fantasy fiction. Her work includes the Fallen Gods trilogy: Godkiller, Sunbringer and Faithbreaker. Godkiller is the first book in the trilogy, Sunbringer is the second, and Faithbreaker is the third.

Kaner studied English at the University of Cambridge and gained a first-class degree. Her studies included narrative theory in video games and comparisons between Terry Pratchett and Charles Dickens. She has also worked in the technology sector, specialising in digital tools for hard-to-reach communities.

Godkiller was published by HarperVoyager on 19 January 2023. The novel centres on Kissen, a professional godkiller, and introduces a world in which gods are forbidden in the kingdom of Middren.

Sunbringer was published on 12 March 2024 and continues the Fallen Gods story with Kissen, Inara and Elogast. Faithbreaker was published on 1 April 2025 and concludes the Fallen Gods trilogy.

Godkiller was shortlisted for Book of the Year: Debut Fiction at the British Book Awards 2024. Kaner’s later fantasy novel A Snake Among Swans follows the Fallen Gods trilogy and is inspired by a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale.
