Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Fred Blunt is a British author and illustrator known for his work in children’s picture books. He studied illustration at UWE Bristol and has since worked on a range of projects, including books, animation, and editorial illustration. Blunt’s illustrations are characterised by their humour and distinctive style, often appealing to young readers and families.
He has both written and illustrated his own books, as well as collaborated with other authors. Among his self-authored titles are Santa Claus vs The Easter Bunny and Captain Falsebeard in a Very Fishy Tale. Blunt has also illustrated books for other writers, including the Gnome series by Fred Blunt and Beware of the Storybook Wolves by Lauren Child.
Fred Blunt’s work has been published by several major publishers, including Macmillan Children’s Books and Nosy Crow. In 2020, his picture book Gnome was published by Andersen Press.
