Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Faye Bird is a British author who writes fiction for young people. She studied English at university and has worked as a literary agent. Bird’s debut novel, My Second Life, was published by Usborne in 2014. The story explores themes of identity and memory through the perspective of a girl who believes she has lived before. Her second novel, What I Couldn’t Tell You, was published by Usborne in 2016. This book addresses selective mutism and the challenges faced by those who experience it, set within a contemporary narrative. Bird’s work is noted for its focus on psychological and emotional themes relevant to young readers. What I Couldn’t Tell You was published by Usborne in 2016.
