Eric Quayle biography

Eric Quayle was a British author, bibliophile, and collector, known for his extensive work on rare books and the history of literature. He wrote several books for both adults and children, with a particular focus on folklore, adventure, and bibliographical subjects. Among his notable works is The Collector’s Book of Books, published in 1971, which explores the history and significance of book collecting. Quayle also authored The Ruin of Sir Walter Scott and Old Cook Books: An Illustrated History.

In addition to his bibliographical works, Quayle wrote and compiled collections of traditional tales and legends. His children’s books include The Magic Ointment and Other Cornish Legends and The Shining Princess and Other Japanese Legends, both of which present retellings of folklore from different cultures. These works are noted for their detailed research and for introducing young readers to lesser-known stories from around the world.
