Emma Read is a British children’s author known for her middle-grade fiction. Her debut novel, Milton the Mighty, was published by Chicken House in 2019. The book was shortlisted for the Bath Children’s Novel Award in 2017 prior to publication. Milton the Mighty was followed by a sequel, Milton the Megastar, released in 2020, also by Chicken House. Both books feature a spider protagonist and explore themes of friendship and bravery.
Emma Read’s work has been recognised for its appeal to young readers and its use of humour. She has participated in events such as the Bath Children’s Literature Festival. Her books are available in the UK and internationally. Milton the Mighty was selected for the Reading Agency’s Summer Reading Challenge in 2020.
Her most recent published work is Milton the Megastar (2020).
