Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Emma Quay is an author and illustrator of children’s books, originally from England. She studied at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art at the University of Oxford. After her studies, she worked as an illustrator in London before moving to Australia, where she has continued her career in children’s publishing.
Quay is known for both writing and illustrating picture books. Her work often features gentle stories and distinctive illustrations created using a variety of techniques, including drawing, painting, and printmaking. She has collaborated with other authors as well as producing her own texts.
Among her notable works is Rudie Nudie, which she both wrote and illustrated. This book was published by HarperCollins Children’s Books in 2011. Rudie Nudie received the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Book of the Year: Early Childhood award in 2012.
